"Thank you for inviting me to attend Dr. Shatte’s session on the Resilient Leader. Here is a summary of feedback on the session:

Technical Component:

• The Zoom platform functionality was optimized to include engagement techniques throughout the session (polls, chat, audio participation, video, breakout rooms. The breakout rooms in particular allowed for productive discussion among colleagues-not an easy feat to accomplish with 78 attendees)

• Powerpoint slides were easy to digest and visually appealing

• All components worked seamlessly (the producer was well appreciated).

• The tech familiarization went rather quickly; it took some playing around during very beginning of event to figure out my best laptop view. Maybe go a tad slower in the beginning to allow learners to get comfortable in the virtual room.

Content:

• The session took content that is well known amongst educators/HR professionals and presented it in a new, thought provoking and inspirational way. I had prior exposure to many of the concepts in the event, but not integrated into something as meaningful as Dr. Shatte’s presentation (examples include mindset, self management in emotional intelligence-emotion control, and bias/thinking traps.

• It was a privilege to be in the company of such an expert in the content

• This is the first event in a long, long time where I actually intend to apply the specific content, augmented by the resources provided to improve my behavior/skill by using deliberative thought in execution of my action plan

Facilitator

• Dr. Shatte is a maestro of virtual learning

• Noted use of the following techniques in instructor delivery, use of humor, storytelling, historical references, integration of personal narrative, metaphor ( I am still disgusted by the “spit” test—but will not forget it!), applied visuals for emotional impact (that Skydiver pic and story---point made!)

• Additionally, the design of the class leveraged best practices on how people learn and remember –copious amounts of “chunked information” was presented, but it was all digestible, impactful and in concert with the facilitator’s delivery. WOW!!!

I am looking forward to the content exploration in the next 30 days and the follow-up session. Again, thank you for the opportunity to participate."

"Hi Stacey! I was able to view all of these great resources and I wanted to comment that I couldn’t stop talking to my family about Carol Kinsey Gorman’s messages about body language.  I really had several aha moments during her presentations that I think answer some of my questions about myself and how I could be perceived differently than “my best, authentic self.”  I am excited to work on some of the things that I know I do!  If she has any more videos on this I would love to view them!

I also loved Param’s message about negative self-talk and shared it with our department.   The “monkey on my back” was a great illustration!  My team and I are participating in a book study that starts tonight on the book, “Self Love Workbook for Women—Release Self-Doubt, Build Self-Compassion, and Embrace Who You Are” by Megan Logan.  This video really fits some of the things that we as women struggle with and is a nice intro to our study!  I am going to suggest we play it.  Any other similar videos would be helpful as I support myself and my team.  

Many other take aways from the other videos, but those were my favorites.  I hope you will continue to share with us while we participate in the cohort.  You have a knack for selecting helpful resources!

"I attended the virtual IMS program, Leading vs. Managing: The Difference is Key to your Success with Ann Tardy. I found this session content to be exceptional. Ann’s method to inspire us to become better leaders is inspirational and her dynamic and energetic personality is both captivating and contagious. She encouraged group discussion in a way that made you want to participate. Ann delivers her approach to becoming a better leader with practical guidance that exudes conventional wisdom.

Ann’s session provided thoughtful discussion around topics that make a good leader ‘better’, through fostering an environment of hope, compassion, stability, and trust. In addition, her presentation on managing expectations and mentoring people in such a way that shifts culture and promotes desired outcomes was insightful. One of my favorite areas of this session was on the topic of Fixed vs. Growth Mindset and I thought the ‘think of 3, then ask me’ strategy was an extremely useful tool to use in our everyday critical-thinking and problem-solving applications.

I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in this workshop and have found the tools provided on the IMS platform to be a great resource for further education on this topic. A true leader, mentor, and coach, I would follow Ann into the fire!"

Stacey said, "11, if you can't clearly communicate your vision you can't accomplish what you want." She was gracious enough to give me a couple of tips on effective communication; pay close attention to the questions a person is asking, look at if they are asking or telling, facial expressions, and always adjust yourself to the style of the other person.

You just need to value something about someone and start to ask them more question to learn how you can gain that knowledge or skill.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Creating Introvert-Friendly Workplaces IMS program on March 9. "I have been able to attend a handful of the IMS programs since I started at JM Smucker. First, I want to say thank you for the variety of options and length of times that are offered. 

Most recently I was able to participate in Magic Words with Jonah Berger. I enjoyed listening to him explain how simply changing from help to helper makes people want to help more. I am looking forward to reading his book that goes along with the information he provided as the hour was not long enough. 

I have been able to attend others, the other one that stands out is “The 7 People all Leaders Need in Their Life” with Richard Osibanjo. He really helped me understand that who you surround yourself with is important and how your group you rely on for work and development doesn’t have to be your friends and maybe shouldn’t be.

"One of my favorite IMS programs was taught by Terry L. Paulson. The program was several years ago, and that I still remember so much of it is the true testament to how wonderful it was!  The morning was spent on teaching listening technics and the afternoon on communication.  But what the seminar was really about was how important it is to sprinkle humor into your communication and technics for doing so effectively.  We spent the morning being thoroughly entertained, and the afternoon learning why, and more importantly how to start to add humor into our own communications."

"I attended your most resent IMS training program; “Magic Words.”  Let me tell you, that was one hour that was worth my time.  There were many “Ah Ha” moments, where it dons on you that what Johan Berger just said makes perfect since.   I will start to put to practice what I learned from your program today.  I also ordered a copy of the book, Magic Words, and am looking forward to reading it."

"I'm fascinated by the topic of stress and the long-term impact it has on our lives. Dr. Heidi Hanna did a great job laying out the two primary types of stress and how we are built for stress but also need rest in her recent Stress Mastery program through IMS.

She explained how our brains work when it comes to stress and where we need to focus. She talked about what is actually going on when we are under stress, and she provided great and impactful information for managing stress and using it to our advantage. The course comes with a Recharge Toolkit. I liked the course so much that I purchased Dr. Hanna's book Recharge. I highly recommend this course if you want to understand better how stress impacts us and how we have the ability to recharge and help ourselves in the process."

"I have another IMS program tomorrow and the title alone seems very interesting ("Dealing with Difficult People: Turn Tension into Collaboration"). It’s hard to pick between them because I find all the programs valuable in their own way. 
 
Each program I attend (which is most of them offered), I always learn something new, a tip on how to handle something differently than I did in the past and resources to continue my learning journey. 

I love IMS and promote it as much as I can to as many people as I can in my organization. The most recent program I attended was Magic Words: What to Say to Get Your Way. It was wonderful and I learned a lot. 

The action I will use going forward the most is changing my words to think like an outsider and see the situation in a different way. I learned being a new leader that even though I am new and know of things, there are others that don’t, and I can’t communicate in jargon or company slang and expect others to know what it means. "

"In 2023 I attended the IMS program “How To Become A Leader Everyone Admires”.  I’ve been a leader before but I’m a newer leader at my company. This program was informative and built on the skills that I already have but also gave me some new ideas to work with.
